About the Village

We don’t believe there is such thing as an “expert” parent.  Who doesn’t learn as they go?  As expectant, new and even seasoned parents, we need to seek advice, research solutions, and understand through trial and error what works best for our children, our community, and ourselves.

It truly takes a village to ascertain the wisdom and experience our youth depends on us for.  We don’t know it all, not nearly, but we hope to open an arena for ideas, projects, materials, and products to inspire and provoke creative, respectful parenting.

The phrase  ”it takes a village,” is attributed as an African proverb.  The specific source is said to be a translation of the Nigerian, “Ora na azu nwa” ~ it takes a village/ community to raise a child.  The Igbo culture, centralized in Nigeria even name their young ” Nwa ora”, which means child of the community.  Aren’t they all?

In our culture, so divided by politics, technology, and paranoia, a lot of folks could use a friendly community to assist in child rearing.  You’ve found it.  Welcome!
